The idea for the Vancouver Arts and Cultures Forum started with the Arts and Cultures Committee of the Downtown Vancouver Association.  The DVA Arts, Cultures, and Heritage Forum gives community leaders a place to talk about initiatives and ideas that contribute positively to the cultural development of our community.

The Forum was introduced at an Arts and Cultures Committee meeting at Simon Fraser University Downtown Campus in 2005 and launched as an idea to the community on the sixtieth anniversary of the Downtown Vancouver Association at Centre A, the Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Arts in 2006.

The Vancouver Arts and Cultures Forum communication centre is being developed as a cooperative community enterprise with the contributions of the Downtown Vancouver Association, Heritage Vancouver, Alliance for Arts and Culture, Centre A, the Community Arts Council of Vancouver, the Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance, the Bill Reid Gallery, and the many community contributors who appear in the Forum.
